Oil Spill

Hello guys, I just wanted to update you guys on the first assignments from photo class that I have completed this semester.
For Documentary Photography, I chose to do my semester project on an Animal Farms in Michigan- I have found 2 that are willing to let me photograph. It is going to be a bit tough with all of the snow out now (to get photos other than snow or to travel in snowy weather). But it will be a challenge I hope for the better! And I am sure I will be learning a lot through it as well and meeting new people :)
For the first assignment for Documentary Photography we had to practice shooting 'wide, medium, close and ultra close' shots to help loosen us up for the real deal. I chose to try out the dairy farm behind Andrews University (yeah, our school is awesome, we own a dairy farm with easily over a few hundred cows!.

In Advanced Photography, the assignment was Your Choice. So we Literally got to experiment with Anything. And thats just what I did.
Our teacher Marc showed us a few example photos, and I saw one photographer who painted an entire book black, and for some reason, that really inspired me me. I wanted to do something with black oil paint so badly.
I came up with an idea on how to use this thick oily substance-portray the Oil Spill. Oil spills sadly happen all around the world- some make the news, some dont. But never the less, they happen. Conspiracies arise on whether huge oil spills (like BP's for example), were purposely planned or not, but whatever the case, they kill thousands. Man And animal.

These photos below were of animals I have researched and have been effected by the oil spill in some way shape or form. Sadly, many people don't take the time to see the deaths that this fatal material brings.
We don't look deep enough to see the horrors that this tragedy really brought amongst all of the population.
So that is a little bit of what I wanted to portray here, to make the viewer look a bit deeper this time to see what is really there. As hard as it may be at times.
